Council News
WHO: A Council of parents, teachers and community members dedicated to supporting and enhancing student learning at VM. There are regular attendees and there are those who attend as they are able. You are always welcome - whether you want to listen and learn, help with a specific event or share your ideas.
WHEN: We meet the third Tuesday of every month from 7 pm - 9 pm in the school library. Our meetings always finish on time, are full of information and people that make things happen.
WHAT: Our goals are to:
1. Support and enhance student learning
2. Celebrate cultural diversity
3. Facilitate involvement of volunteers
4. Enhance student play and physical activity
5. Beautify the school yard
Some of the activities we do:
1. Coordinate an Annual Book Exchange
2. Plant Gardens
3. Coordinate a Multi-cultural Dinner
4. Raise funds to install new play structures and purchase school equipment
5. Send home a monthly calendar and newsletter
Please mark your calendar and plan to attend the monthly meetings. It is a great way to contribute to your child's learning, better understand the issues facing today's education system, meet other parents and contribute to your community.
